A Tongan MP is aiming to unseat the prime minister, Pohiva Tu'i'onetoa - issuing a motion of no confidence last week.
Semisi Sika, who leads the opposition democratic clique in the parliament hopes it will be tabled at the next sitting of parliament on January 12th.
Political scientist Malakai Koloamatangi told Don Wiseman with an election coming in November next year this may amount to some early campaigning.
