There has been unrest on the streets of Honiara today with large crowds of people calling for the prime minister Manasseh Sogavare to step down.
Our correspondent in Honiara, Georgina Kekea, says the protest is being led primarily by people from Malaita Province who say they feel they are not being heard by the national government.
Most schools and businesses in the capital were closed today as the large crowds trying to access the parliament grounds, where the house was in session, clashed with police.
Ms Kekea says the protest is a culmination of a host of issues between people from the province and the national government.
She joins me now Kia ora Georgina tell us what has been happening?
