A Pacific survivor of historic abuse of the State wants the New Zealand government to act now to help bring healing to survivors, before it's too late.
The newly released Royal Commission of Inquiry's Abuse in Care report has 95 recommendations to support survivors in State and faith-based care in New Zealand who were abused between 1950 and 1999.
Māori and Pasifika were among the majority of children who suffered historic abuse and neglect.
Recommendations include an apology and a redress system to be developed in collaboration with Pacific survivors.
