After the volcanic eruption and tsunami on the 15th of January Tongans all over the world were disconnected from their families back home.
For many it was a stressful and traumatic period and the coconut wireless went into overdrive as people waited for news from home.
Community social media pages and groups became an important source of news, information and updates providing some comfort to so many worried Tongan families.
Joining me is an administrator of one of these community initiatives the Facebook group Live it Tonga.
