The authors of new research looking at the lives of undocumented families in New Zealand say the country's strict immigration laws are unfair, unjust and cause life-long and inter-generational harm.
The Unitec report entitled - 'Hidden Gems - Lived Experiences of Tuvaluan Hope Seekers and Their Families in Aotearoa New Zealand' provides a rare glimpse into the lives of undocumented families.
It was conducted by Hoa Nguyen and David Kenkel with the assistance of the Tuvalu Auckland Community Trust.
In this first part of a three part series both researchers join me to talk about their findings and their call for an overhaul of current legislation.
