NZ Govt urged to prioritise Pacific nations for vaccines

The New Zealand government is being urged to prioritise sending more vaccines as omicron spreads rapidly to Pacific nations.

There are now over 3000 cases of Covid-19 in Solomon Islands with 50 deaths reported as of Thursday. Kiribati also reported it first two Covid deaths this week with case numbers now over 2000 positive infections and Tong on Friday reported cases passing the 100 mark.

Despite high vaccine rates in the Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga and Niue - in Papa New Guinea and the Solomon Islands low vaccination rates persist.
