French Pacific gearing up for presidential election

From , 6:00 am on 23 February 2022

The French Pacific territories are gearing up for the April presidential election in France, with support committees being formed for various candidates.

Emmanuel Macron appears to attract most backing, in contrast to 2017 when New Caledonia's anti-independence voters preferred Marine Le Pen of the National Rally.

My colleague Walter Zweifel is closely following the build up to the election.

Here he is explaining to Koroi Hawkins why the outcome of the poll in Paris is important for the French Pacific.
