A team of New Zealand health experts will be helping people in Tonga still traumatised by the devastating volcanic eruption and tsunami in January.

The eight-strong team will be offering mental health support to the Kingdom for five weeks.

Pasifika Medical Association Chief executive Debbie Sorensen says there are many people who require support for their wellbeing - particularly children.

She spoke with RNZ Pacific reporter Eleisha Foon.
