A health and education researcher warns the rising costs of food in New Zealand will impact the academic future of Pasifika.
'The Pacific Islands Families Study' team at AUT University have analysed academic records of over 600 children whose parents are taking part in a study of Pacific families.
The report's co-author, AUT Emeritus Professor Elaine Rush told RNZ Pacific's Lydia Lewis they found household food insecurity in the year preceding childbirth is associated with lower academic achievement at secondary school.
