The Papua New Guinea government says the re-opening of the critically important Porgera gold mine in Enga Province is very close.
There had been hopes it would open last month but the acting prime minister, John Rosso, has told RNZ Pacific's PNG correspondent, Scott Waide, that he is full of confidence the mine will open soon.
