Cyclone Lola has destroyed schools and homes in Vanuatu with more than 10 thousand households torn apart, damaged or flooded.
Four provinces in the north have been hit hardest as humanitarian aid groups and Vanuatu's National Disaster management staff make initial assessments.
The New Zealand, Australian and French defence forces are set to help provide aid and assess damage.
Aid groups say it could take years for some communities to properly recover.
