Messages of solidarity have been pouring in from around the Pacific for indigenous Kanak people seeking independence from France amid ongoing unrest in the territory's capital Noumea.
Kanaky New Caledonia is one of many non-self-governing territories where the indigenous population's aspirations for Independence continue to be stifled by colonial powers.
