A Hawaiian documentary will be screened at this year's Doc Edge Festival in Christchurch later on this month.
The film, 'Standing Above the Clouds' follows Native Hawaiian mother-daughter kia'i or protectors as they occupy the mountain, Mauna Kea to prevent the building of the world's largest telescope.
It's also been featured at over 40 film festivals around and has scooped up awards including 'Best short film' at the Melbourne Women in Film Festival.
The director of the film, Jalena Keane-Lee and one of the kia'is featured in the film, Hawane Rios spoke with Pacific Waves host Susana Suisuiki.
