Athletes from Nauru, Marshall Islands, Guam and Palau are stamping their mark on the Micronesian Games underway in Majuro this week.

The Nauruans are dominating in weightlifting, Guam has had to work hard to keep its crown in the basketball, Palau reign supreme on the sands for beach volleyball and the hosts Marshall Islands are holding their own in weightlifting and softball but they're also looking to dominate in their favourite sport of wrestling.

RNZ Pacific's Koroi Hawkins caught up with RNZ Pacific's correspondent in the Marshall Islands Giff Johnson about the games.
