Fiji's Finance Minister has defended Members of Parliament salary increases in light of public opposition.

The National budget released last week Friday, addressed the serious skilled workers shortage but it also provided civil servants a large boost in wages as well as a salary increase to MPs of FJ$4.2 million across the board.

RNZ Pacific's Eleisha Foon spoke with Finance Minister Biman Prasad and began by asking him if the budget goes far enough to address the cost of living and minimum wage.
