This year Niue is celebrating 50-years of free association with New Zealand.
It comes as the islands' government has a deficit of more than 15 million New Zealand dollars hanging over it.
Niue is also struggling to retain its small population of about 1600.
RNZ Pacific's Caleb Fotheringham asked Premier Dalton Tagelagi what he wants to see happen in the next fifty years.
