Fiji's government is backing the appointment of the anti-corruption commissioner who was only in the job for a day before coming under investigation by her own organisation.

Attorney General Graham Leung, who is the Cabinet Minister responsible for Fiji's Independent Commission Against Corruption, says despite the investigation Barbara Malimali still has the powers of the Commissioner.

Ms Malimali has told Fijian media on Friday that she is ready to lead the anti-corruption office.
