Cook Islands businesses hopeful for mid May bubble

From Pacific Waves

The president of the Cook Islands Chamber of Commerce is remaining optimistic about a travel bubble with New Zealand opening on in May.

This comes after the May 1st date touted by the Cook Islands' prime minister  for the opening is no longer happening.

Fletcher Melvin says a lot of work has been done in recent weeks to further align Cook Islands health and border regulations with New Zealand's.

This includes the realignment of its colour-coded Covid-19 alert levels to mirror New Zealand's numbered alert level system.

Mr Melvin says he is expecting an official announcement of the bubble to open on or around the 15th of May.
