The ANZ Bank's country manager in the Cook Islands is cautiously optimistic about what the opening of the travel bubble with New Zealand will do for the local economy.
The first international tourists in over a year touched down in Rarotonga today much to the relief of local business owners.
The ANZ's Bernadette Shaw says the past year and a bit has been rough and the banks on the island have tried their best to help their customers and support the government's efforts to mitigate the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
She spoke with RNZ Business Editor Gyles Beckford just before the bubble opened.
