Alexa Cook
Alexa grew up farming in Central Hawke's Bay with her family, enjoying a real outdoors lifestyle.
An award-winning journalist and presenter, Alexa worked at RNZ in a number of roles, before moving to the UK and working as a Broadcast Journalist for BBC Radio Bristol. Returning to Aotearoa in mid-2020, she spent four years as a Senior TV Reporter for Newshub, being awarded News Journalist of the Year at the 2024 Voyager Media Awards and being named a finalist for Best Reporter at the NZ TV Awards.
Alexa has reported from all over the world - from the King's coronation in London to the population crisis in Japan. She says she’s passionate about telling people's stories, reporting in the field (especially big weather events!) and fighting for those who don't have a voice or can't hold the powerful to account.
In mid-2024 Alexa returned to her home region to take up the role of Hawke's Bay Tairawhiti Regional Reporter for RNZ. She is also a fill-in presenter for Morning Report on RNZ National.
Outside of work, you can find Alexa out on the farm riding her horse, sailing with her family, swimming in the ocean, or cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
