It was only a couple decades ago when accessing the internet meant dialing a number while making sure no-one else was using the telephone at the same time. While countries like New Zealand, Australia, China, and India have decommissioned dial-up services, it might surprise some that North America is possibly the only place on Earth that still uses dial-up - to the tune of hundreds of thousands of households.
