Kate Adamson from Oamaru was living the dream in Manhatten Beach California. Married to a successful lawyer with two young daughters, it all changed one morning in 1995. She had just gotten out the shower when she started to feel dizzy and unwell. Kate had suffered a double brain-stem stroke. For 70 days she could see and hear everything, but couldn't move. All she could do is think and blink. Completely paralysed, she says it was like being in a glass coffin. But with determination, and the support of her family, she has recovered from that stroke. Now Kate Adamson is a motivational speaker and author and she's back in New Zealand talking to people with the Stroke Foundation.
There's a mystery afoot in Pukerua Bay. A dead wallaby has been found in a residential neighborhood, a log hop away from any of the known populations of wallabies in New Zealand. Determined to solve the wallaby mystery, one woman contacted the Wellington Zoo and local vet clinics to see if anyone is missing a marsupial with no luck. The animal has been buried in a local resident's garden, but biosecurity officials would still like to know how it got to Pukerua in the first place.
