1:25 BBC Witness - DB Cooper
Today we're going back to 1971 and one of the most notorious hijackings in US aviation history. Rob Walker of the BBC history programme 'Witness' recalls the story of the hijacker who disappeared literally into thin air.
1:30 Sea Lettuce - Karin Bryan
Bay of Plenty residents have been prewarned that their beaches could turn green this summer, because of an increased sea lettuce bloom. Although the name lettuce may seem non-threatening, it can wash up on shore and start to rot, in turn releasing noxious gas. Paul speaks to earth sience associate professor Karin Bryan from the University of Waikato.
1:40 Sound Archives - Sarah Johnston
Some of the recordings in the sound archives of Nga Taonga Sound & Vision capture not just the voices of people who are no longer with us, but also sounds that have now disappeared from everyday life. Sarah Johnston from Nga Taonga is going to play us some of these today.
1:40 Favourite Album
An Ocean Held Me - Mice On Stilts. Chosen by Felicity Jujnovich.
2:20 Roadmap - Paparoa
Paparoa is little more than a village of around 270 people, situated in a peaceful valley on a headwater of the Kaipara Harbour. In the late 1800's it was a major port and ship building centre where the export of Kauri logs guaranteed plenty of work for the locals. Now, with its historic buildings and natural beauty, Paparoa has become a popular hub for surrounding farmers and the many artisans who have flocked to the area.
3:10 Technology And Innovation
Our technology correspondent Paul Brislen is here to talk about New Zealand's place in the world of telecommunications, Christmas lights interfering with wifi, and he'll answer your technology questions.
Our Innovator of the Week is Liam Houlahan CEO of Wearit.
3:25 The Wireless
In RNZ's on-line magazine 'The Wireless', Laine Moger has been writing about Auckland's iconic Karangahape Road, and a project to capture some of its stories.
3:35 New Zealand Society
New Zealand men have wholeheartedly embraced their beards, so much so that national beard and moustache competitions have emerged and an Auckland man started a New Zealand beard appreciation society as a joke, with the club now boasting 11,000 members.
3:45 The Panel Pre-Show
