1:20 The fate of the Coromandel's mangroves

Forest and Bird is concerned the district council covering Coromandel and Thames wants to be able to remove mangroves without a resource consent.

The organisation says mangroves protect against things like coastal erosion, storms, they trap pollutants and give habitat to native birds and fish.

It says a 'Mangrove Management' bill being proposed by the district council removes any protections for the plant.

Dr Rebecca Stirnemann, regional manager for Forest and Bird, tells us more about why mangroves should stay.

We also ask the Thames Coromandel District Mayor, Sandra Goudie why the council wants them to go.

1:30 How Braille came to be

Learning to read with your fingers isn't something many of us have to do, but we all know what those little dots are on things like lift buttons - it's Braille.

If you're in Dunedin, you'll be able to go to the Fringe Festival and see Julie Wood tell the story of Louis Braille, the little French boy, who invented the system more than a century ago.

1:35 Using music to develop skills

In a few days it'll be World Music Therapy Day - no idea what that is?

It's a field of study dedicated to using music to help those with learning or mental disabilities.

The Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre has been around for over a decade and aiding kids around the country.

To give us an idea of what they actually do is the centre's director Jen Ryckaert.

We asked you to tell us what you reckon are the best songs with just a piano and voice. We got a lot of suggestions and have chosen a selection, which will be presented by pianist and singer Mal McCallum.

One of the greatest challenges of modern parenting is regulating screen time with our kids. Research shows kids start their interactions with screens, like TVs, computers and smartphones, at about four months of age.  Screen time is the new sugar to so many parents, but maybe it's not the villain it's made out to be according to  Anya Kamenetz, the lead digital education correspondent for National Public Radio in the US.  She says parents need to let go of guilt, and that screen time can actually be a good thing. She takes a practical look at the science in her new book, The Art of Screen Time: How Your Family Can Balance Digital Media and Real Life.
