1:20 Will the Garden City need a new name as trees disappear?

Concerns are growing over the the lack of tree canopy in Christchurch.

Some say the nickname,The Garden City, is under threat as tree numbers decline.

Survey results just released by the Christchurch City Council reveal show 13.5 per cent of the city is covered by tree canopy, which is 2 percentage points lower than in 2015-16.

Ecologist Colin Meurk​, who works for Canterbury and Lincoln universities and Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research, talks to Wallace about what's going on.

1:40 Wheelchair rugby player fundraising for safer rideshare

Wheelchair rugby player Barney Koneferenisi is raising money to get a ride share started that is user friendly for the disabled community.

Others can also use the app but the vehicles used for the service have special features which cater for people with disabilities.
