1:15 Annual digger competition coming up in Feilding

Digger skills will be on display later this week in Feidling at the National Excavator Operator Competition.

The two day long contest will be held at the Central Districts Field Days in Feilding on Friday and Saturday with digger operators from all over New Zealand vying for the title.

1:35 Bridge quest comes to an end for Sharleen Grounds

Wellingtonian and avid bridge player Sharleen Grounds has travelled around the country in her camper van visiting 108 bridge clubs.

We spoke to her just as she was heading off on her quest to play bridge in every club in Aotearoa.

This evening she'll complete the mission - visiting and playing at the local bridge club in the Otago town of Palmerston.

Jesse talks to Sharleen about her travels and the people she's met along the way.

1:45 Jet plane engine used for percussion on just released album

You might wonder what a jet engine and music have in common?

Well University of Canterbury Associate Professor and expert percussionist Justin DeHart has used a large piece of a 747-jet engine as an instrument.

It's part of a new album he's just released - which has been ten years in the making.

Every 52 minutes, someone, somewhere around the world will die from an eating disorder. Anorexia, bulimia and binge eating  are among the deadliest mental illnesses. It most commonly starts in childhood, between the ages of 12 and15. To treat eating disorders, we have to understand them. Professor Cynthia Bulik is one of the world's leading experts in the field, and is working with The University of Otago on the world's largest investigation into the role of genes in this terrible illness. Professor Bulik joins us to talk about  The Eating Disorders Genetics Initiative (EDGI)
