1:15 Inner city permaculture - how to make it happen

When you think of permaculture, you might imagine a very busy and productive garden that's a bit wild - probably on a lifestyle block or even a farm.

But Amanda Warren is a garden designer and says it doesn't have to be like that.

Amanda has an abundant and under-control permaculture plot, complete with-lawn mowing guinea pigs -  in St Heliers - in Auckland city.

1:25 Helping the people who help people with disabilities

A couple of weeks ago, you will have heard that Star Jam, the organisation that created dancing and performing opportunities for people with disabilties, came to an abrupt end.

For one group - the news the dancing had to stop, came two days before the end of year concert that jammers had spent months preparing for.

An Auckland mother is determined that her son, and his friends, will still get the chance to groove and move each week.

Jesse talks to Sally Rayner - from Lena's Magic Movers.

1:35 Insurance in the climate change era

How much more would you be prepared to pay for home insurance?

One thousand dollars? How about 5 or 10? Due to increased coastal erosion it's a real possibility. That according to a new report from the Helen Clark Foundation & environmental consultancy WSP.

They predict 10,000 properties will become totally uninsurable within the next 25 years

Jese talks to report author Kali Mercier.

2:20 NZ Live:  Sin City

Today Jesse is joined by five-piece band Sin City.

They released their second album "Another Round" in April.

Despite being from Auckland, the band is now based over in Aussie, but they're finally back on our shores for a nation-wide tour.

This is a 70s style image of the band in a country pub or possibly hall. The pub has brown wooden floorboards and posters on the wall. They are stood in front of an old piano. A slightly crooked painting of a tree hangs on the wall behind the piano. If I had to guess i'd say it was an Australian pub. Zooming in confirms this as the postersi in the background make it clear it's the Fitzroy Pinnacle in Melbourne.

3:35 Critter of the Week: Thread-legged bug

This week’s critter is a curious and cryptic insect you’ve probably never heard of. The native thread-legged bug, Empicorus seorsus, is unique to Aotearoa and is one of only four thread-legged bugs found here.

It looks a bit like a moth crossed with a daddy-long leg and a praying mantis. Don’t be fooled by its delicate-looking legs because this critter is a powerful predator.
