For a country that has been marketed as 100% pure, water quality has long been a concern in Aotearoa. 

But in Southland, they've identified one solution that is not only cost-effective but also provides natural flood protection.

1.25 Goodbye 3G

New Zealand's 3G network will be retired at the end of the year, making room for more advanced technologies like 4G and 5G. 

Launching in 2006, 3G revolutionised communication, allowing users to make video calls and browse the internet on the go. 

Many of us have already transitioned to the 4G and 5G network, but tech experts warn that the impact will be larger than people think, with hundreds of thousands of 3G phones and tablets still in use around the country. 

To discuss the upcoming shutdown, Jesse is joined by Paul Brislen, CEO of the New Zealand Telecommunications Forum.

1.35 Indian Ink Theatre brings show to Hamilton

The Indian Ink Theatre company has built its reputation on original storytelling that reminds us how much we all have in common, no matter who we are or where we come from. 

Almost thirty years on it is still making audiences, laugh, cry, and participate! 

Their show 'Guru of Chai' will play at the Hamilton Arts Festival later this month. 

Co-founder, writer and actor Jacob Rajan joins Jesse today.

2.30 Expert: Animation with Andrew Kunzel

On the 20th of February an exhibition will open at Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre titled 'Disney: The Magic of Animation'. 

For our Expert feature today, Jesse digs into the medium of animation: how is it done, how has it evolved over the past century, and where might it go in the future? 

To talk us through it all Jesse is joined by Andrew Kunzel. His 30-year career as a digital artist and animator has led him to work on movies including 'The Lord of the Rings: the Return of the King', 'King Kong', and most recently 'Avatar: The Way of Water'. He now teaches in animation at Massey University's School of Music and Screen Arts.
