His 'Rhythm On Record' jazz programme finished a forty-year run on this very radio station. Auckland lost one of its oldest citizens. Hector the Farmers parrot died at 131. He was given to the Farmers Trading Company in 1936 and spent his senior years in a cage on the 3rd floor of the department store.
