In 2004, the editor of Tauranga's Sun Live newspaper wrote a column taking a swipe at driving standards. It quoted figures from the Land Transport Safety Authority putting the cost of Tauranga's accidents at $2.7 million a week. Ten years later, with Tauranga expanding rapidly and with significant changes to driver training and licensing, has the standard of driving improved at all? Brian Rogers thinks not.
