Rita Hague on the last recorded katipo spider victim

From Afternoons, 1:15 pm on 3 July 2019

The last known death due to a katipo spider bite was in 1901. That was a woman, Dora Jepson, who was bitten while having a picnic on Hadfield Beach.

Her granddaughter Rita Hague got in touch after the death was mentioned during yesterday's katipo spider interview.

She explains to Jesse what happened all those years ago.
