Medical students are not up to scratch on providing quality nutritional care to patients in spite of the increase in diet related disease around the world.
Researchers from New Zealand, Australia and the Netherlands put together a report, which is to be published in the Lancet, outlining the short comings on nutritional know-how by students and recommends making nutrition a compulsory part of training for medical students.
Dr Lauren Ball from Griffith University in Australia led the study and explains why.
