Waipukurau Arts and Crafts Incorporated has spent most of the year creating a five-metre Christmas tree made up of more than 1100 crocheted granny squares.
Lesleigh Ashley from the group says the tree was many months in the making.
“We've had a heck of a lot of fun playing with it and developing the squares. Some of the squares are really plain and some are 3d and all sorts of extraordinary colours and there’s bells on it as well so it does tinkle.”
The tree now proudly stands on open section as you enter Waipukura, and Lesleigh says it’s standing up very well to the weather.
