A Short Run: lathe cut record exhibition coming to Dowse

From Afternoons, 1:34 pm on 17 January 2020

Cutting records on a lathe is a unique artform, and one embraced by Kiwi musicians who want to put out limited edition copies of their albums. Luke Wood is a senior lecturer from Ilam School of Fine Arts in Christchurch and he has curated an exhibition displaying some of these wonderfully crafted objects.

A Short Run will be opening at The Dowse gallery in Lower Hutt on 15th February. It's also part of the New Zealand Festival of the Arts.

Here's a video of Peter King, who has been making lathe cut records in Ashburton for many years, and a lot of his records will be displayed as part of the exhibition.
