Talented indie-pop siblings Georgia and Caleb Nott, known as BROODS, have released their first single in two years - ‘Piece Of My Mind’.
Recently Caleb has been working from his home studio in New Zealand, while his sister Georgia is residing in Los Angeles.
“This is the first release we’ve done separated, so it’s been interesting with all these calls and interviews on Zoom," Caleb tells Jesse Mulligan.
‘Piece Of My Mind’ sets the theme for BROODS' upcoming album Space Island, he says.
“The album is a journey of dealing with grief and losing someone important.
“The first stage of grief – or at least what everyone tells us - is denial, and ‘Piece Of My Mind’ is dedicated to that kind of escapism to deal with denial when you first start grieving.”
Lyrically, the song contains a lot of personal darkness that Caleb says is hard to confront.
“By making it a really happy, bop, upbeat pop song, it helps with the process of dealing with it.”
