Toi Moana Bay of Plenty Regional Council is worried increased temperatures due to climate change will lead to sleeper pests waking up and posing a new threat to our native environment.
In particular there's concerns around the numbers of red-eared slider turtles which have been abandoned and thrive in the warmer climate.
