Max Lowe was just ten when his father left for work and never came back. Alex Lowe made his living as a mountaineer. Adventure was his oxygen. But he died in an avalanche in Tibet along with a cameraman on the expedition. Alex's best friend and climbing partner, Conrad Anker, survived that avalanche, married Alex Lowe's widow and helped raise Max and his two younger brothers.
