Enormous amount of rare earth reserves discovered in Turkey

From Afternoons, 1:15 pm on 8 July 2022

Turkey has apparently just discovered six hundred and ninety four million tonnes of rare earth reserves.

Rare earth minerals are used in many clean energy technologies, like solar panels, electric vehicles, and rechargeable batteries.

China is the largest miner of rare earth, and many countries rely on them. But what Turkey has discovered is possibly up to fifteen times the reserves of China.

GNS Senior Geologist Rose Turnbull talk to Jesse about the significance of the find.
