Our green-lipped mussel industry is worth 380 million annually, but the exact source of the mussels has long been a mystery.
Now, scientists have used new research methods to pinpoint the source of the hoards of mussels that show up on Ninety Mile Beach.
This could be a major step forward in preserving these mussels and safeguard the industry around them for future generations.
