Visiting Smithsonian curator public talks

Paul Chaat Smith is an author, essayist, and the curator of the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian.

His work focusses on the contemporary landscape of American Indian politics and culture.

His book 'Like a Hurricane: the Indian Movement from Alcatraz to Wounded Knee' is now a standard text in Native studies and American history courses.

Paul is in Aotearoa to host a series of talks and Q&A sessions at various galleries.

He'll be speaking at City Gallery Te Whare Toi from 3pm this afternoon, Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū on Wednesday, and the Browne School of Art in Auckland on Thursday.
