Waipā District councillors were overjoyed when they walked into their Tuesday meeting and saw a glorious morning tea spread waiting for them.
Their joy turned to disappointment though when they were instructed not to eat any of the food, as it had all been pulled from local rubbish bags.
The plan was hatched by Waipā waste minimisation officer Sally Fraser to illustrate the extend of our food waste problem. Sally talks to Jesse.
