'Paku Manu Ariki Whakatakapokai' is a new illustrated book for young readers about a young boy full of ideas and self-determination. You might know author Michaela Keeble for her poetry collection 'Surrender', which was long-listed for the Ockham NZ Book Awards in 2022. But with with this book, she's taken a novel approach in that all the words in it are things Michaela's son Kerehi Grace has actually said. Kerehi is now 10, but Michaela has been jotting down fascinating things that have come out of his mouth since he was born. The result is 'Paku Manu Ariki Whakatakapokai'. Kerehi and Michaela both speak to Jesse.
