Like many people of his generation, Dave Owen first became interested in space as a child; in part fired up by his love of sci-fi.
Encouraged by his mother, young Dave wrote to the US embassy asking about the space programme. They sent him back some memorabilia, launching a life long obsession.
Since then his collection has taken flight. Blasting off from the backroom of his house into its own building, becoming the Te Awamutu Space Centre.
Dave talks to Mark about his collection, and how a small Waikato town became home to our only dedicated space museum.
