The finalists for the New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults have been announced today.
While the winners won't announced until August, it serves as a reminder of the incredible plethora of authors that spring from our shores.
The books are spread across six categories: Picture Books, Junior Fiction, Young Adult Fiction, Non-Fiction, Illustration, and te reo Māori.
Then there's the big one, the Margaret Mahy Book of the Year, where the winner will take home an $8,500.
