From Afternoons, 1:25 pm on 22 August 2024

A rare medal belonging to Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton is set to be displayed in New Zealand after a battle with the British government. The polar medal was the subject of an export ban .. due to its "outstanding significance". So how did Canterbury Museum manage to get it out of the UK?

Canterbury Museum Trust Board Chair David Ayers talks to Jesse about their latest exhibit.

The Polar Medal was awarded to Ernest Shackleton by Edward VII in 1905 for his participation in Sir Robert Falcon Scott's Discovery Expedition.
