Teacher’s stroke to triathlon triumph

From Afternoons, 1:15 pm today

We tend to think of strokes happening to older people. But schoolteacher, Michael Whitesmith was only 40 when his wife realised he was having a stroke at their Hawkes Bay home. Her quick action in recognising the signs and calling an ambulance undoubtedly improved Michael's chances of survival and recovery. So much so that later this week, Michael is off to Spain to compete at the World Triathlon Championships.
