According to the Manaaki Kaimai Mamaku Trust, our current funding model for conservation is "broken".
The trust is a non-profit that encompasses nine iwi and hapū led conservation groups working to restore the Kaimai Mamaku forests straddling Bay of Plenty and Waikato.
They say hundreds of projects across the country are at risk, including theirs, and are constantly fighting for funding.
So, they're changing the model, starting with a pest control project based in Matama.
