Kiwi science helping Kenyans

From Afternoons, 1:35 pm today

A group of local mathematicians have just been awarded 3.4 million dollars to develop modelling in an effort to improve food security in Kenya.

The Massey University team will capture the connections between human nutrition, the production of food, and environmental impacts on supply.

That information will be used to develop policy with the goal of providing Kenyan people with access to safe, affordable and nutritious diets year-round, despite environmental or economic pressures.

Senior Research Officer at Massey University's Riddet Institute Nick Smith spoke to Emile Donovan.
