Your Place - Owhango

From Afternoons, 1:19 pm on 9 September 2010

Ringed round by dense bush, and close to trout-filled rivers, it's a drawcard for hunters, fishers and outdoorsmen (and women) of all sorts. For trampers, it is the ideal starting point to explore the the Whanganui and Tongariro national parks. Mountain bikers know it as the village you end up in as you follow the 42 Traverse Trail, one of the most famous biking tracks in the country, and for kayakers, its the launch point on their way to Kakahi, or even further down the Whanganui river.
