Investigating the worst in human nature

Psychiatrist and award-winning author Professor Robert Jay Lifton has written about the Nazi doctors who took part in the Holocaust, the survivors of Hiroshima, torture and brainwashing, atrocity and war. Professor Lifton combines the study of psychology and history, looking into the causes of evil in the hope that we humans may find a way move beyond it. At age 85, he's just written a memoir called Witness to an Extreme Century.
